Learn to write ekphrastic poetry - poems based on works of visual art in a FREE workshop led by Jeannine Pitas! Participants will begin by looking at some famous examples of ekphrastic poetry and then try their hand at writing their own, drawing on work displayed in Latrobe Art Center for inspiration. This workshop is open to all interested writers, from absolute beginners to the most seasoned bards.

Part mixed-media class, part basic drawing class, Sue Hrubes will broaden your understanding of what can be achieved using a pencil, watercolor or acrylic paints, and mixed media. Don’t be afraid—think outside the box! A class for all experience levels.
In this series, we'll create vegetable-inspired artwork—perfect for adding a pop of color to your kitchen or home décor! We’ll start by illustrating vegetables in a whimsical, stylized way, then transition to capturing them in a more realistic style. Using a variety of media, you'll learn simple techniques to make vegetable art easy and enjoyable.

In this one-of-a-kind class, you will choose an animal eye to paint while learning an incredible new technique called the Glazing Technique with acrylic paints.
Taught by local professional artist Katelyn Buchan, this class will help you unlock the secrets of beginning-level acrylic painting. You’ll learn how to layer colors, create depth, and add stunning detail using the glazing method. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made at least 2 weeks prior to the start date of the class will be issued a full refund less a 25% processing fee. All requests for refunds must be made in writing to info@latrobeartcenter.org. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks prior to the start date of the class will be issued a 50% refund. Emergency exceptions will be made at the discretion of Latrobe Art Center.
